Theodor Severin Kittelsen (1857–1914) is among Norway’s most popular artists. Kittelsen became famous for his nature paintings as well as for his illustrations of fairy tales and legends, especially of trolls. He is sometimes called the Father of the Norwegian Trolls.
This book is produced in cooperation with Blaafarveværket, the Th. Kittelsen Museum at the Cobalt Mines, Modum in Norway. During the last 25 years the museum has built an important collection of Kittelsen’s art, and through research, publications and contribution to various exhibitions all over Europe, it has been an active resource in widening the interest and deepening the understanding of this unique artist. The text is written by art historian Sverre Følstad.
